St. Augustine Catholic Church
is located on Route 41 in St. Augustine. The church and village were
both named for the patron saint of one of the early benefactors of
the parish. As one of the longest serving churches in the Diocese of
Peoria, the original church was built in 1838. The current larger
church was built in 1863. The parish has members who live in St.
Augustine, Avon, London Mills, and surrounding areas. Weekly
catechism classes are provided for children. A summer social is held
in June to welcome former and present members as well as all
residents of the area. |
